For heaven’s sake, stop freaking signing multi-year deals in AI, especially AI SaaS.

AI is moving too quickly to know if the platform or product you bought will be relevant in the next 6 months.

To put 6 months in perspective, that’s the gap between the launch of DeepResearch, and OpenAI (and Google DeepMind) achieving gold medals at the International Math Olympiad competition.

But I want to zoom out and talk about an under-appreciated idea: the value of not making big commitments in AI, especially ones driven by FOMO, whether that’s locking into vendors or spinning up large internal builds.
